Vernadine Elkerson Brooks Family Literacy Endowment A Project of College of Education

Turn the Page for Those in Need

For 37 years in Baltimore City Schools, Vernadine Elkerson Brooks was passionate about fostering literacy, turning challenged learners into excellent readers. Her daughters Deidre '87 and Danita '90 celebrate those accomplishments in our community through the Vernadine Elkerson Brooks Family Literacy Endowment, which helps provide support to the Towson University Reading Clinic for families in need.

How Can You Help?

The clinic reinforces learning through the most up-to-date, success-oriented, and motivational techniques like one-on-one evaluation and tutoring for children, adolescents and adults. Your gift provides books, material, equipment, software, outreach-related transportation and more, allowing the clinic to positively affect the lives of individuals in the community.
