Help a TU Student Participate in an Alternative Break

CLOSED - Alternative Break Connections (ABC) A Project of Campus Life

From the East Coast to West Coast and Around the World

Through Alternative Break Connections, Towson students committed to service are able to take their talents beyond the bounds of campus, to areas in need throughout the country!

After the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Student Activities at Towson University created a student organization called Alternative Break Connections. Students traveled to New Orleans to help rebuild affected communities and engage in active service. ABC allows students to gain new perspectives on society while meeting the needs of impoverished communities. Students travel in teams to different cities and learn about building upon community assets.

ABC is one of Towson University's most comprehensive and introspective student programs. Just ask Corinne DeRoberts, Advisor of ABC. As a student at Towson University, Corinne traveled to Houston, Texas for the Hurricane Ike relief and dubs the trip as “life-changing." The experience inspired Corinne to change her major from Mathematics to Education, and she is now the head-runner of the program.

This year's trips:

·Seaside, NJ (Winter Break) – assist with Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts

·Atlanta, GA (Spring Break) – serve with the Medici Project & Nature Conversancy

·Nashville, TN (Spring Break) – trail maintenance in the Warner Parks
